My theoretical approach to my counseling practice is based primarily in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy emphasizes the idea that a person will experience difficulties in life based on his/her perceptions of the events that have occurred and their belief about themselves and others. Though each person will experience hardship and difficulty, I believe that problems with emotions and behaviors are generally a result of how one thinks and feels about the situation or their own self. I may also incorporate aspects of a Person-Centered Approach as I believe that each person is unique, valued, and worthy of unconditional acceptance.
Together, we can work toward identifying beliefs associated with events and utilizing appropriate techniques in collaboration with spiritual principles to realize goals in therapy. My Christian faith one of my core values and is integrated into my how I view the world and life but will incorporate those spiritual principles only as you are comfortable. It is crucial we discuss things openly and honestly. Therapy is best provided in an atmosphere of safety and trust, which I will do my best to provide for you. After developing sufficient background to proceed, we will discuss the strategies and techniques for meeting your goals.
